Leather Craft History
   
   


1982
Began the study of leather craft.
1986
Began teaching leather craft at the Sagamihara City Youth Center.
Certified for first grade qualification as leather craft instructor.
Started second class at the Youth Center.
1988
Held 1 day workshops for children as a volunteer in the Youth Center & Public Community center, several times over summer vacation.
Held 1 day workshops for members of PTA (Jr. & Senior High School) as a volunteer. These workshops continued until 2004.
First visit to Al Stohlman Museum in Tandy.
1994
Attended Bill Gomer's Workshop at Tandy in Fort Worth, and first visit to the Al Stohlman museum.
Attended Chuck Smith's workshop in Japan.
1995
Took Robb Barr workshop in Japan.
1996
Attended workshops by Robb Barr, Silva Fox and George Hurst at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma.
1997
First visit to Sheridan to attend the Rocky Mountain Leather Trade Show.
Received 2nd place at the IFoLG show - Roses Bouquet - Red Ribbon in Master class.
1998
Received a prize at the Japan Leather Art Exhibition - Hat Bag.
1999
Attended the Gathering of the Masters in Sheridan, Wyoming.
2000
Attended the classes of Tony Laier, Peter Main, Robb Barr and Jules Godfrey at Dimensions in Leather Conference in Brisbane, Australia.
Received 1st place at the Exhibition - Shoulder bag category.
2001
Participated in Dimensions in Leather Conference in Brisbane and attended classes with Clint Fay, Peter Main, Joe Barth and Robb Barr.
2002
Traveled with Lana Smith and Ann Stohlman from Canada to Sheridan for the Al Stohlman Award.
Took Joe Barth's workshop in Japan
2003
Attended the Dimensions in Leather Conference in Brisbane and received instruction from Jules Godfrey, Joe Barth, Peter Main and Helen Huxley.
Received Award of Excellence at the conference - Shadow Box.
2004
Traveled again with Lana Smith to take Ann Stohlman to Sheridan, Wyoming.
Held a workshop in leather flower making at the city hall
Began a new class for leather craft at the Sagamihara public hall.
2005
Received Best of Category in the World Leather Debut - Personal Items.
Held workshops at the Dimensions in Leather Conference.
2 day workshop for Sagamihara city workers.
Attended Jim Jackson's workshop at Dimensions in Leather.
Attended Clint Fay's workshop in Tokyo.
Exhibited leather work at the International Art Exhibition & U.A.L. ( UNESCO Art Education League in Japan) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
2006
Received Best of Category at the World Leather Debut- Saddle Accoutrement-Saddle Bags.
Exhibited two saddle bags at the International Art Exhibition and U.A.L
Held 1day workshop for Sagamihara city office workers.
Attended Jim Jackson's workshop in Japan.
2007
Appointed one of the directors of Japan Leather Art Association.
Made the first western saddle in Clint Fay's shop studying under Clint Fay.
Received Honorable mention of Personal Items category in the World Leather Debut
Held workshop at Dimensions in Leather.
Held workshop in IFoLG show.
Attended Barry King's workshop.
Judge at the IFoLG show.
2008
Made 1/2 size saddle in Clint Fay's shop with instruction from Clint Fay.
Received Best of Category in the World Leather Debut-Stand alone 1/2 size Saddle.
2009
Best of Category in the World Leather Debutc.Stand Alone - Heptagon Music Box.
Held workshop at Dimensions in Leather, Brisbane.
Received 1st at the Exhibition in Tutor category.
2010
Received Best of Category at the World Leather Debut - Personal Items - Hat Bag
Held a workshop for children as a Volunteer.
Judge for the Japan Leather Art Exhibition.
Article appeared in the Sheridan Press and Billings Gazette newspapers.
2011
Awarded Best of Category at the World Leather Debut - Stand Alone - Swivel Knife Box
Article published in the Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal - Biker's Wallet
Judge for the Japan Leather Art Exhibition.
Held workshops in IFoLG show.
Judge at IFoLG show.
Received First Place in the Masters Division - Category 'S' Class S-1 at the IFoLG.
Received First Place in the Masters Division, Category 'S' Class S-2 at the IFoLG.
Held workshop for both adults and children as a Volunteer.
Held 1 1/2day workshop in Wakayama, Japan.
Article appeared in the Leather Craft Book in Japan.
Held Personal Exhibition of Leather work for a week in Tokyo.
